Norrie Loomis – Director of Client Care

Norrie Loomis
Director of Client Care

Welcome, my name is Norrie Loomis and I am the Director of Client Care at Home Care Assistance. With a background in Social Work and patient admissions, and having lived in Cincinnati most of my life, I am passionate about giving back to people, especially in our own community.

After my wonderful mother was clinically diagnosed with dementia of the Alzheimer’s type, at the age of 83, I learned firsthand the struggles of dealing with hospitalizations, doctor’s appointments, managing medications, and coordinating both my parent’s medical needs and care. Besides physical, occupational, and speech therapy, I realized that taking care of aging parents is a full time job. Taking FMLA time off work allowed me (and my siblings) to help care for them, but we often felt inadequate to meet all their needs and ensure their safety, and knew we needed more support.

Thankfully, with intervention at a critical time, both of my parents (ages 87 and 83) are living their golden years enjoying card games, Scrabble, Backgammon, puzzles, socialization and exercise along with healthy meals and stable medication routines. Their quality of life has drastically improved and my siblings and I are all thankful to God, prayer, and to the professionals and caregivers who were there in our time of need. This has only strengthened my passion for my role as Director of Client Care, as I know I can help others by easing families’ minds and providing resources during a time of transition.

In late 2015 I completed an intensive Teepa Snow certification process called The Positive Approach™ to Care (PAC) This training enables me to educate caregivers, families and professionals to better understand dementia and related challenges. Most education models teach the WHAT of dementia including mostly facts and information. PAC takes it a step further and teaches the HOW to live in relationship with a changing brain. Teepa Snow’s approach and hands on skill techniques offer the interpersonal skills needed to improve quality of life for our clients and everyone involved in their care.

At Home Care Assistance of Cincinnati we help by providing trained caregivers who truly care about the uniqueness of your family’s needs and how they can assist. Service is available in a loved one’s home, a family member’s home, or in an independent or assisted living environment. If you are ready to start talking about options, I would love to set up a free, no obligation appointment. Please don’t hesitate to reach out – I look forward to speaking with you soon.

"Over a long term relationship every interaction was characterized by competence, caring, and honesty. Home Care Assistance of Cincinnati is surely the paragon of the field. Highest Recommendation. Thank you."
— Mark S. Lewis, Professor, clinical psychology University of Texas

"Our Mom turned 100 years old this month. She had been living on her own since our Dad passed away 33 years ago. She is very independent and drove until she was 95. With no chronic condition or disease she may outlive us! Anyway, in the last year she began to succumb to age-related dementia: forgetting meds, not eating well, being less social, losing track of time, sleeping most of the day. Truly unlike herself. In May we enlisted the help of Home Care Assistance. They were wonderful. Then as months went by Mom required more help. With Laura (HCA Care Manager) in guidance we employed Home Care Assistance on a daily basis. We felt confident Mom’s needs were being met. We were notified immediately if problems arose and handled very professionally. We were always able to contact their office any time of day and our calls were dealt with by a person quickly. The employees were appropriate for our Mom, polite and caring. With the many alternatives popping up every day, we highly recommend Home Care Assistance. By the way, Mom has moved to full care in her Senior Living Community and as she begins her 101st year, she’s doing fine."
— Ann Overbeck, Cincinnati

“I had a great visit with M today, accompanied by a student nurse (RN to Nurse Practitioner) shadowing me who was quite impressed with her care. She shared an observation from personal experience that caregivers had seemed "checked out" typically in companion care type situations she had witnessed. She was very impressed with HCA caregivers and all the good care that M receives. M's weight was 135.6 today! That is over a 6 lb gain in a month. I am thrilled! Thank you Home Care Assistance!”
— Pam Ward, RN - Faith Community Nurse, Knox Presbyterian Church – Cincinnati, OH

“The staff at Home Care Assistance is always pleasant to work with. They are committed to finding the right fit for clients and caregivers, and are willing to resolve any issue that may arise. I appreciate their hard work!”
— Peggy Slade-Sowders
Director Living Well Senior Solutions

“Home Care Assistance has exceeded my wildest expectations. Our caregiver, Mary, is almost like family and has helped my Dad feel better and enjoy his life again, even though he is homebound. We can’t recommend Home Care Assistance highly enough.”
— Dr. Noam Chomsky, Professor Emeritus, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
